“I’ve always felt chosen by God to be an actress,” she said. “Storytelling gives me joy and a sense of purpose in this world. Not just the creative process of character portrayal, but the knowledge that I am helping others in the same way stories helped me.”

After graduation from ASU, Karis earned her master’s degree from Regent University in Virginia.

Karis said her transition into acting wasn’t easy. She was well-equipped with the skills from ASU, but was not prepared for the “nos” that came from the industry. With persistence and tenacity,  Karis can be seen in television shows and films such as “Miles Ahead,” “Bolden,” “This Is Us,” "Mad About You," “The Resident,” “Queen of The South”and “If Loving You is Wrong.”

Karis is now developing a television series based on her life where she serves as a writer and producer.

“I am honored to produce work that helps people uncover their own truth, apply meaning to their lives, overcome obstacles and celebrate the joys of existence,” Karis said.

“The Walking Dead: World Beyond” was set to premiere on AMC on April 12 but is being postponed to later this year because of the coronavirus pandemic.
